Captain Sim's 727

Captain Sim has really done a fabulous job recreating the Boeing 727 for use in Flight Simulator X. Captain Sim's version of this infamous jet is complete and thorough... as to be expected with Captain Sim. The features in the virtual plane are well done, the opening engine nacelles and a host of other "eye candy" make this one a stunning representation of the 727. Captain Sim made a 727 for fs2004 in the past, and it was a wonderful add-on. Now there is a 727 for the FSX guys. The complete package hasn't been released yet, the only thing left is the interior & systems, which hopefully be as stunning as the rest of the package. Captain Sim has not provided a sound set with the 727 at the time of writing, probably due to the great freeware sounds available. Sound sets like this one are made by talented individuals and provide an accurate representation of the real thing. Captain Sim has really done a terrific job and I look forward to the release of the interior. To see it for yourself click here.

White and Nerdy

White and Nerdy by Weird Al, one of my favorite songs.

Windows 98 Returns!

The other day I was incredibly bored, so, I went into the storage room and brought out the old Compaq Presario 5170. I set it up on the floor, and plugged it in and pressed the ON button. I then heard that familiar zzzzhz sound as the computer stared up. After that the famous Windows 98 thing with clouds in the background appeared on the monitor, then, after about ten minuets of waiting, the desktop showed up along with about 50 or so icons, half I didn't have a clue of what they were. So I began exploring, the thing was so slow, I couldn't even play Minesweeper without waiting for several seconds to see if I had gotten blown up or not. Then I decided that this was really boring and shut down.

To The Moon

This is a NASA video showing how we might go the the moon in the near future. Note the two launch vehicles being used (the Ares V CARGO and the Ares I CREW).

Do-27

The Do-27 from Digital Aviation, one of my favorite planes for Flight Simulator. It has so many features I don't know where to start. The external model is done very nicely, with removable cowl and all sorts of movable parts for you to perform your virtual walk around. But what is really cool is the VC. Forget a 2D cockpit the Virtual Cockpit is amazing and is fully functional. This plane is full of features I hope the next generation of flight sim airplanes will have. This is definitely an airplane that everyone should experience.
Here's a list of key features:
  • Do-27 A1/B1 variants
  • 6 different aircrafts with authentic panels.
  • Detailed simulation of the GO-480 B1A6 engine.
  • This add-on can be used in 'pro' or 'simple' mode.
  • Aircraft and systems can failure or be damaged.
  • Maintenance mode.
  • Skydiver dropping.
